Terms of Service
These documents are shared by Heartline Romania’s website (heartlineromania.org) and Heartline Romania SkyDrive (cloud.heartlineromania.org).
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Heart Line Romania's website or portal you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Eligibility & Account Use
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account.
3. Permitted Use
The portal is provided to help adoptees, families, and authorized partners exchange records for adoption-search and family-reconnection purposes only.
- No unlawful, harassing, or fraudulent activity.
- No upload of malware or attempts to breach security.
- No scraping, resale, or commercial use without written consent.
4. User Content & Documents
You retain ownership of records you upload. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and share them with your assigned case worker and authorized partner agencies strictly to deliver the service you requested.
5. Fees & Donations
Core services are offered at no cost. Where fees apply they are disclosed before payment. Donations are voluntary and non-refundable except where required by law.
6. Service Availability
We aim for high availability but the service is provided 'as is' and 'as available' without warranty of uninterrupted access.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Heartline Romania is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may close your account at any time by contacting us.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Iowa, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Romanian users retain mandatory consumer protections under Romanian and EU law.

This supplement applies to SkyDrive (cloud.heartlineromania.org). SkyDrive is zero-knowledge: files, file names and folder names are encrypted in your browser before upload, and Heartline Romania never receives your passphrase, recovery code or keys. Where this supplement differs from the sections above, it controls for SkyDrive.
Who provides SkyDrive
Heartline Romania SkyDrive is a service provided by Heartline Romania Inc. (EIN 42‑2650925). The SkyDrive name, the Heartline România · Skydrive logo, the software, the encryption design, page designs and text are the property of Heartline Romania Inc. and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, frame, mirror, resell or create a derivative or competing service from any part of SkyDrive without our prior written consent, except where the law expressly allows it. All rights reserved.
Your files and our licence
You keep full ownership of everything you upload. For SkyDrive, the licence you grant us covers only storing and transmitting your encrypted data so the service works. We cannot open, read, scan, process or share the contents of your files, and SkyDrive never passes your files to a case worker or partner agency. A file is shared only when you create a share link yourself.
Passphrase, recovery code and share links
Only your vault passphrase or your recovery code can unlock your files. If you lose both, your files cannot be recovered by anyone, including Heartline Romania, and we cannot reset or bypass them. Anyone holding a complete share link can decrypt the shared file until it expires or you revoke it, so share links with care.
Your responsibility for content
Because files are encrypted on your device, we cannot inspect them or check them for malware. You are responsible for what you upload and share, and the Permitted Use rules above apply in full.
Plans and billing
The Seed plan is free. Paid storage plans are billed monthly through Stripe at the price shown on the Pricing page before you pay, and you can cancel at any time from the Plan page. If a payment fails, uploads pause; after repeated failed attempts the account becomes download-only until payment succeeds. Your files are not deleted for non-payment.
Closing your account
Download anything you want to keep before closing your account. When an account is closed, its encrypted files are deleted and cannot be restored.
Trash, earlier versions and protected links
Items you delete stay in your Trash for the period your plan includes and can be restored by you until then; after that they are erased permanently. Earlier versions of a file are kept up to your plan’s limit. Trash and earlier versions count toward your storage. These are self-service features: Heartline Romania cannot restore anything once it has been erased, and cannot recover or reset a share-link password. Password-locked links lock themselves after repeated wrong passwords. On plans with link access history we record when a link was opened, unlocked or downloaded and the visitor’s country, but not their IP address.
